Job Description

Role:  Manager – Portfolio Management

Location: Corporate office, Banjara Hills, Hyderabad

Key Responsibilities:

  • Portfolio Ideation: To ensure strong pipeline of differentiated products for the identified spaces in Russia
    • Drive the ideation of new differentiated products in collaboration with medical, CoE, & IPDO teams.
    •  Organize monthly country calls to ensure the agreed products are detailed as per the laid scope to help the country take a Go/No-go decision. Involve concerned stakeholders well in time to ensure completeness of information for decision making.
    • Scan in-house leverage products under development for other lead markets to ensure selection for Russia.
    • Work closely with Country team to identify portfolio gaps that could be fulfilled either through internal leverage or BD in order to deliver the strat plan objectives.
  • Product Selection Meetings
    • Organize PSC meetings with concerned cross functional teams to enable diligence on differentiated ideas & support portfolio decision making.
    • Support cross functional teams with data, information etc to help close on open points necessary for decision making.
    • Organize and lead Apex meeting by present the new product opportunity, development and clinical strategy along with the cross functional teams to seek approval for development.
    • After approval, ensure TPP preparation and sign off from all concerned stakeholders as well the MC within the stipulated time. Ensure complete process adherence at all stages including project kick off post approval and TPP sign off.
  • Portfolio Management
  • Project Timelines -Actively drive reviews with key stakeholders at IPDO to ensure the projects are progressing as per market requirements. 
  • Project Budget- Track Planned vs Actual Budget and evaluate PnL before proceeding with approval for additional budget.
  • Thematic Issues impacting Portfolio Health –To identify thematic issues and work with various stakeholders to debottleneck with counter measures and appropriate action plan to ensure continuous improvement in various processes impacting product filings till registration
  • Business Case Updates – Drive the half yearly P&L update by evaluation of complete pipeline for any impact from changes in the market and product development updates. Identify and escalate red flags and take early decisions on investments and resourcing.

Internal: Country team, CoE, Medical, Regulatory, GCM, Finance, Legal, IP, BD, IPDO, Portfolio and Strategy

External: Partner corporates, Research agencies


Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • Overall experience of 6-8 years preferably in new drug discovery or branded pharmaceutical markets
  • Preferably 3 + years of functional experience in Portfolio Management

Skill Set Required:

  • Must have basic understanding of pharmaceutical business process such as Product Development, Dossier Filing and Pharma Market
  • Good understanding and hands-on experience of using various analytical tools and databases
  • Good presentation skills and ability to independently conduct secondary research.
  • Good project management skills
  • Good communication, networking and interpersonal skills to connect with internal and external stakeholders
  • Ambitious and Self-driven

Emerging Markets

Branded generics is one of our biggest businesses in Emerging market and our branded products are available 48 countries across 5 regions. Our key markets are Russia, China and Brazil. We also have presence in Latin America, Africa, Australia, New Zealand, ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations), CIS and Romania. We have added 13 new geographies in the last 5 years.
In the last 4 years, our emerging markets business’ growth rate has doubled (June ’22). Our diverse portfolio spans all segments. We are continuously advancing technologies, enhancing efficiency of operations and increasing our portfolio of highest-quality quality products.
With nearly 40 products and 6 mega brands, Russia is a key market. With more than 30 years of operations in the region, as of FY22, we have reported a year-on-year growth of 32%. This was driven by improved existing business performance, launch of new products during the year along with divestment of some non-core brands. 6 key products were ranked among the top 200 bestselling formulation brands, as per IQVIA in its report for the 12-month period ended 31 March, 2022. 5 of our leading products were voted as the ’Product of the Year’ by the consumers – reaffirming the trust that the people of Russia have in them.
We are among the earliest Indian pharma companies to have a business presence in China. We have a representative office that focuses on filings and approvals, including the Group Purchasing Organisation (GPO). Our joint venture entity (Kunshan Rotam Reddy Pharmaceutical Co. Ltd) offers a portfolio of niche and essential products, strengthening our presence in China.
In Latin America we have a strong presence in Brazil and Colombia. In just a little over five years in Brazil, our team has established itself in the region with our diverse portfolio. Our primary focus in Brazil is oncology and institutional. Our team in Colombia was certified as a ‘Great Place to Work’.
