Job Description

Job Summary: The Electrical Engineer responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting, and optimization of electrical and electronic systems and equipment within the drug substance manufacturing section. This role ensures that all electrical and electronic systems, including related equipment, operate efficiently, safely, and in compliance with regulatory standards, supporting the continuous production of high-quality drug substances.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintenance and Repair:

    • Perform maintenance and repair of a wide range of biopharmaceutical DS/ DP processing equipment, including:
    • Bioreactors
    • Fermentation tanks
    • Tangential Flow Filtration (TFF) systems
    • Chromatography columns
    • Purification skids
    • Aseptic processing equipment
    • Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to ensure optimal equipment uptime and performance.
    • Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions, diagnose root causes, and implement corrective actions.
    • Manage spare parts inventory and ensure timely procurement of critical materials.
    • Ensure the completion of work orders and adherence to established maintenance procedures and cGMP regulations.
  • Compliance and Safety:

    • Ensure all electrical and electronic installations and modifications comply with industry standards, codes, and regulations.
    • Conduct safety assessments and risk analyses for electrical and electronic systems.
    • Participate in safety training and promote a culture of safety within the department.
  • Continuous Improvement:

    • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities for equipment optimization and process efficiency.
    • Implement innovative solutions to enhance manufacturing performance and reduce operational costs.
    • Stay updated with the latest advancements in electrical and electronic engineering and biopharmaceutical manufacturing.
  • Documentation and Reporting:

    • Prepare and maintain detailed maintenance documentation, including logs, reports, and procedures.
    • Maintain and update electrical and electronic schematics, diagrams, and documentation.
    • Prepare maintenance reports and communicate findings to the engineering team.
  • Collaboration and Training:

    • Interface with other departments (e.g., Production, Quality Assurance) to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
    • Ensure a safe work environment for the team by following safety protocols.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 4+ years of experience in electrical and electronics maintenance, preferably in a biopharmaceutical or aseptic manufacturing environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of biopharmaceutical processing equipment and cGMP regulations.
  • Strong understanding of preventive maintenance practices and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
