Job Description

Job Purpose

To operate and support Derma (topical) manufacturing lines such as creams, ointments, gels, lotions, and ointment filling/packing lines, by executing production activities in compliance with cGMP, SOPs, safety, and quality requirements, ensuring consistent product quality and uninterrupted production.

Roles & Responsibilities

1. Manufacturing Operations (Derma)

  • Operate and support dermatological production processes such as:
    • Cream, ointment, gel, lotion manufacturing
    • Mixing, homogenization, emulsification
    • Transfer and holding operations
  • Execute activities as per approved BMR/BPR and SOPs.
  • Set up, operate, and monitor manufacturing equipment like mixers, homogenizers, vessels, transfer pumps, etc.
  • Ensure adherence to process parameters (time, temperature, speed, vacuum, etc.).

2. Equipment Operation & Cleaning

  • Perform equipment cleaning, assembly, disassembly, and line setup as per SOPs.
  • Execute line clearance and area clearance before batch start and after batch completion.
  • Follow CIP / COP procedures, where applicable.
  • Report equipment abnormalities, breakdowns, or deviations to supervisors.

3. cGMP, Quality & Compliance

  • Strictly follow cGMP, GDP, data integrity (ALCOA+), and hygiene practices.
  • Perform operations only with QA‑released raw materials and approved documents.
  • Ensure proper batch traceability and identification at all stages of manufacturing.
  • Support deviations, investigations, CAPAs, and rework activities as instructed.

4. Documentation

  • Record all manufacturing activities accurately in BMR/BPR and logbooks.
  • Ensure documentation is legible, contemporaneous, and error‑free.
  • Perform corrections strictly as per SOP without data manipulation.

5. Coordination with Cross‑Functional Teams

  • Coordinate with Warehouse for timely receipt of raw materials and consumables.
  • Coordinate with Quality Assurance (QA) for line clearance, in‑process controls, and batch closure.
  • Support Quality Control (QC) during in‑process sampling and observations.

6. Safety, EHS & Housekeeping

  • Follow EHS guidelines, PPE usage, and MSDS instructions during chemical handling.
  • Ensure personal hygiene and gowning compliance as per clean area requirements.
  • Maintain 5S, cleanliness, and discipline in production areas.
  • Report incidents, near misses, or unsafe conditions immediately.

7. Continuous Improvement & Team Participation

  • Participate in Kaizen, TPM, AWT / Work Circles, and process improvement activities.
  • Support validation, scale‑up, and trial batches under supervision.
  • Assist in training of new operators when required.

Qualifications

Educational Qualification

  •  Diploma in Mechanical / Electrical / Chemical / Pharmacy
  • B.Sc. (Chemistry) / B.Pharmacy (preferred for Derma lines)

Experience

  • 1–5 years of experience in Derma / Topical dosage manufacturing in a pharmaceutical plant.
  • Experience with US‑FDA / EU‑GMP / WHO‑GMP regulated environments is an advantage.

Key Skills & Competencies

  • Knowledge of Derma manufacturing processes
