Job Summary
This role is for an Automation Systems Engineer responsible for executing automation-related projects and qualifying systems to ensure reliable and efficient operations. The position involves coordinating with vendors and OEMs to manage project schedules, resolve implementation challenges, and maintain system performance. The engineer will plan for hardware redundancy, monitor component obsolescence, and implement upgrades and replacements as needed.
Automation & Sensorization Centre of Excellence – IPDO
Key Responsibilities
- You will be responsible for driving strategic automation initiatives across product development (APIs, formulations, scale-up/tech transfer, and manufacturing) and process engineering.
- You will be responsible for designing, developing, validating, and deploying advanced automation systems for R&D labs, pilot plants, and manufacturing areas.
- You will be responsible for executing on-site installation, commissioning, and validation of automation platforms such as DCS, SCADA, PLC, Siemens PCS 7, and DeltaV.
- You will be responsible for leading scale-up trials, equipment qualification, and process validation in compliance with GMP/GxP and FDA guidelines.
- You will be responsible for implementing emerging technologies such as Digital Twin, AI/ML integration with IoT, and leading proof-of-concept initiatives.
- You will be responsible for integrating MES/ERP systems with OT platforms, ensuring secure and compliant data flow.
- You will be responsible for ensuring IT/OT systems meet 21 CFR Part 11 requirements for electronic records and signatures.
- You will be responsible for implementing Process Analytical Technology (PAT) tools for real-time monitoring and control of critical quality attributes.
- You will be responsible for working with multiple industrial communication protocols (OPC UA, Modbus, Profibus, Profinet, Ethernet/IP, ISA-95) for seamless connectivity.
- You will be responsible for collaborating with cross-functional teams (API R&D, Formulation R&D, MSAT, Process Engineering, QA, Regulatory, Manufacturing, Digital & Data) to solve real-world process challenges.
- You will be responsible for troubleshooting and resolving technical issues across automation and IT/OT layers.
- You will be responsible for coordinating with vendors and OEMs to track project execution against agreed schedules and resolve implementation challenges.
- You will be responsible for planning for redundant hardware availability to minimize breakdown time and ensure continuous operation of automation systems.
- You will be responsible for developing and implementing a monitoring program for automation system component obsolescence and timely replacement.
- You will be responsible for applying industry best practices such as GAMP and ISA standards, and adhering to corporate policies for automation routines, requalification, and change management.
- You will be responsible for executing design reviews and optimizing testing phases for automation systems to enhance reliability and efficiency.
- You will be responsible for standardizing automation software and hardware configurations with minimal customization to improve maintainability and scalability.
- You will be responsible for planning and executing system upgrades in coordination with vendors and IT teams, and supporting complex troubleshooting and investigations related to automation systems.
Educational qualification-Diploma/ Graduation in Electronics, Electrical, Automation, Mechanical Engineering, or related field is mandatory

- Historian Systems: OSI-PI experience.
- Lab instrument integration, Field instruments/Sensors knowledge
- Hitech Zang Automation System programming.
- Programming & Data: Python, SQL, dashboard development (added advantage).
- Commissioning experience preferred
