Job Description

Job Title: Team Lead - Fixed Asset and Functional Controlling

Location: Bachupally, Hyderabad

Reports To: Head – Global controlling and Reporting (FET).

Job Summary: The Team Lead - Fixed Asset and Functional Controlling is responsible for:

  1. Fixed Asset Controlling (Global): Ensuring the completeness, accuracy, and assurance of fixed assets controlling activities, including governance of running projects, CWIP review, capitalization, physical verification, and focusing on annual budgeting and monthly latest estimate reviews of depreciation and capex cashflow.
  2. Functional Controlling: Managing the period end close process, ensuring compliance with accounting standards (IFRS, SOX), conducting detailed reviews of P&L and Balance Sheet, and identifying opportunities for process improvements and cost savings.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Fixed Asset Controlling

  • Ensure completeness, accuracy, and assurance of fixed assets controlling activities. (Asset base of approximately 10,000 Cr)
  • Govern running projects and review CWIP with plants and project managers to ensure timely completion and capitalization of projects.
  • Oversee monthly activities such as depreciation run, asset provisions, identification, tracking, and redeployment/liquidation of unused assets.
  • Driving the annual budgeting for depreciation and capex cashflow by partnering with the plant and projects team and ensuring the variances as part of monthly LE review.
  • Prepare and circulate latest capex cash flow projections to management periodically.
  • Identify process simplifications to eliminate manual processes or strengthen existing ones.

2. Functional Controlling

  • Responsible for the period end close process as per company’s accounting policies and procedures.
  • Conduct detailed reviews of the workings and summary of P&L and Balance Sheet to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Identify use cases for analytics and pursue them through an in-depth understanding at root level (outcomes can include process optimization, preventing leakages, or resulting in cash savings for the company).
  • Maintain an in-depth understanding of the business and quickly connect the dots.
  • Conduct periodical reviews to ensure the hygiene of balance sheet line items, ensuring no long outstanding cases.
  • Provide adequate business support as needed, ensuring the team meets organizational goals.
  • Maintain strong cross-functional relationships to support collaborative efforts and issue resolution.

4. Audits & Compliance (SPOC)

  • Adhere to IFRS, SOX, internal controls, and SOP requirements.
  • Comply with corporate timelines and deliverables (GFRT), including analytical reviews of P&L, balance sheet line items, notes to accounts, fixed assets, leases schedule, intangibles schedule, advances, sundry creditors, other assets/liabilities, etc.
  • Assist statutory audits by providing required information.
  • Lead digitalization initiatives to enhance process efficiency.

5. People Management and Capability Building

  • Guide and coach team members to realize their full potential, fostering a supportive and productive work environment (Team size -8 to 9).
  • Skill gap assessment and taking care of training needs of the team.

Qualifications

  • Chartered Accountant with 6 to 8 years of experience (Prior Controlling/R2R experience is a plus).
  • Good understanding of Accounting Standards (IFRS) and Audit Documentation requirements (SOX).
  • Ability to lead the team from the front and be a go-to person for the team.
  • Methodical approach to ensure compliance.
  • Strong networking and presentation skills.
  • Problem comprehension and solution mindset (RCA).
  • Positive attitude and enthusiasm.
