Purpose: To ensure timely evaluation of molecules in clinical trials & selection of new products (APIs) for PSAI business and organization after thorough Medical, IP, technical & commercial assessment in order to ensure a robust, sustainable & growing pipeline across focus markets. Create and execute product/portfolio strategy and manage portfolio work along with ownership of the Product List. Provide market intel and competition update to commercial team and senior management periodically.
Roles & Responsibilities
Portfolio strategy and product Selection:
- Develop and align portfolio strategy with business and organization strategy /requirements. One of the key aspect will be enabling early launches for internal as well as external customer through mix of API or formulation business.
- Early development (POC readiness) to bring for full development, evaluation of new technology platforms etc. constitute core strategy aspect of portfolio.
- Establish industry leading product pipeline for PSAI business and organization through extensive review and evaluation of various opportunities and ensuring timely selection through pre-apex & Apex aligned to global process.
- Prepare the business case and share the business interest during the CFT discussion and product selection meeting.
Ownership of portfolio process at PSAI
- Gather information on products (new products in clinical trials and commercial products), customers and competitors from Sales team, IP or secondary sources (Databases like IMS, Newport, BioMed Tracker etc.).
- Conduct preliminary evaluation (on the basis of Historical Sales/Projected Sales, Present/Future Competitors, and preliminary IP analysis).
- Shortlist a basket of products and feed data to IP/GMA/CPO to conduct in-depth analysis for identification of possible markets for launch & corresponding launch timing in consultation with PSAI business (PSAI Head, Head API Marketing, Region Head, Central Portfolio, R&D and IP representatives) & propose product recommendations. IN ORDER TO develop a robust pipeline which delivers key launches/revenue to the API Business and to ensure captive needs of GG are addressed to the extent possible
Product development - tracking progress, decisions and KPI aligned to business objective
- Tracking and prioritizations amongst portfolio basis market needs and product strategy for both early development products (Phase-3 & polymorph screening products based on the progress of clinical trials) and apex selected products already under development.
- Create product strategy for new products keeping all key parameters which help to secure FTM/ cost leadership position in the market.
- Provide the required business inputs to IPDO for under development products and front end teams to enable the faster decision making.
- Tracking of DRL API portfolio pipeline to timely identify the additional opportunities like new dose form/ new indication, repurposing of old APIs etc
Portfolio Integration on the Digital Platform
- Updating the product list quarterly and maintain the Product List all time ready on company website, key business meetings and support to various other digital initiative, platforms.
- Work with product management team to transfer all USP and key items related information to ensure robustness of product strategy avoiding duplication of efforts and maximum leverage within team.
Market analytics and competition benchmarking
- Benchmarking/competition tracking/market analytics/regulatory developments etc. to be tracked and update stakeholders/business teams for awareness.
- Presentation of portfolio approach/strategy/performance and various analysis to senior management and BU leadership teams as and when required.
- Quarterly DMF analysis and Approval tracking for both NDA and ANDA filing and share the insights to the relevant stake holders."
Educational Qualification, Skills & Attributes Technical Skills:
- MSc/ M Pharm/ MBA with minimum 2- 6 years of industry experience (Pharma/Formulations R&D/API R&D)
- Previous experience in product development (API or Formulation), regulatory, Portfolio, BD, Intellectual Property.
- Pharma market experience in B2B and B2C domain
- Attention to Detail, Influencing Skills, Networking and communication skills
- Demonstrates a commitment to continuous learning.
- Strong communicating and influencing skills.
- Displays analytical and logical thinking abilities.
- Is self-motivated and takes initiative.
