Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Modelling & Simulation Scientist to join our team at Dr. Reddy's Laboratories. The ideal candidate will work closely with project scientists and device design engineers to understand the challenges in developing drug-dosage forms and device design specifications. The role involves using engineering knowledge and computational tools to develop predictive models, plan experimental studies, and support the development and manufacturing efforts of our diverse drug portfolio.
Roles & Responsibilities
Collaborate with Project Scientists: Understand the challenges and requirements in developing various drug-dosage forms (e.g., sterile injectables, solutions, suspensions, multi-particulate systems, oral solid dosages).
Engage with Device Design Engineers: Comprehend design specifications, end-use objectives, and associated risks during use.
Identify Engineering Solutions: Apply engineering knowledge and computational tools to solve project challenges independently, with minimal supervision.
Develop Modeling Work Plans: Utilize various computational techniques, including but not limited to discrete element method (DEM), computational fluid dynamics (CFD), process models and flowsheets (e.g., gPROMS), statistical techniques, population-balance models (PBM), first-principles engineering models, and mechanistic modeling.
Leverage Software Tools: Use MATLAB, Python, ANSYS Fluent, Rocky, and Star CCM+ for modeling and simulation.
Apply Pharmaceutical Expertise: Specialize in pharmaceutical applications, including crystallization, spray drying, mixing in vessels, high-pressure homogenization (HPH), granulation, tablet coating, lyophilization, and emulsification.
Conduct Experimental Studies: Plan and execute studies in laboratories and plants, collaborating with experimental experts to support and validate modeling efforts. This includes traveling to plant locations for execution and implementation.
Integrate Modeling Tools: Collaborate with Dr. Reddy's scientists to apply and integrate modeling tools into project workflows.
Present Results: Communicate and present results internally at meetings and, occasionally, at external forums, showcasing scientific results through data analysis and visualizations.
Collaborate with External Partners: Work with universities, research organizations, and vendors to execute and deliver well-defined modeling projects.
Ensure Reliability: Familiarize with experimental design and validation techniques in both laboratory and plant settings, ensuring accurate and reliable results.
Travel for Execution: Willingness to travel to plant locations for the execution and implementation of experimental studies.
Educational qualification: B.Tech/M.Tech in Chemical Engineering
Minimum work experience: 0 - 3 years

Technical Skills
In-depth Understanding: Strong background in computational modeling techniques and tools such as computational fluid dynamics (CFD), discrete element method (DEM), gPROMS, population-balance models (PBM), User Defined Functions and mechanistic modeling.
Software Proficiency: Skilled in using Dynochem, VisiMix, ANSYS Fluent, Rocky, and Star CCM+ for modeling and simulation
Programming Languages: MATLAB, Python, C/C++
Independent Work: Demonstrated ability to develop and execute modeling work plans independently, ensuring successful project outcomes.
Pharmaceutical Expertise: Extensive expertise in pharmaceutical applications, including but not limited to crystallization, spray drying, mixing in vessels, high-pressure homogenization (HPH), granulation, tablet coating, lyophilization, and emulsification processes.
Communication Skills: Exceptional ability to present scientific results to diverse audiences effectively.
Collaboration: Strong capability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and external partners.
Fundamental Knowledge: Solid fundamental knowledge of chemical engineering principles, enabling innovative and effective problem-solving approaches.
