Job Description

The Legal & Compliance function at Dr. Reddy’s plays a strategic role in enabling growth while protecting the organization’s legal, regulatory and reputational interests. The function partners closely with business teams on transactions, contracts, disputes, governance, compliance, data privacy and enterprise risk management across multiple markets and business models. It supports the organization through pragmatic legal advisory, robust risk stewardship, and effective collaboration with internal stakeholders and external legal partners.  

We are looking for a Legal Counsel with 3–5 years of relevant legal experience, preferably with prior exposure to contract drafting, review, negotiation, and stakeholder advisory. 

The role will provide day-to-day legal support to business and functional teams by reviewing contracts, supporting legal documentation, conducting legal research, identifying risks and helping ensure that business decisions are supported by practical and legally sound advice. 

Key Responsibility:

1. Contract Drafting, Review and Negotiation 

  • Draft, review, negotiate and support execution of standard and moderately complex commercial agreements. Experience in IT and technology contracting, including SaaS, software licensing, cloud services, and data privacy matters.

  • Work on agreements such as confidentiality agreements, service agreements, vendor agreements, supply and distribution agreements, consultancy agreements, statements of work, amendments, extensions and other business contracts. 

  • Review clauses relating to scope, payment terms, liability, indemnity, termination, confidentiality, governing law, dispute resolution, data protection and compliance obligations. 

  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders and counterparties to close contracts within agreed timelines. 

  • Use approved templates, playbooks, fallback positions, and internal approval processes wherever applicable. 

2. Legal Advisory and Risk Support 

  • Provide practical legal support to business and functional teams on routine legal and contractual matters. 

  • Identify legal and commercial risks in contracts and business proposals and escalate material issues appropriately. 

  • Support teams in understanding contractual obligations, approval requirements and risk-mitigation options. 

  • Help ensure that legal advice aligns with applicable laws, internal policies, compliance requirements and business needs. 

3. Legal Research and Documentation 

  • Conduct legal research on applicable laws, regulations, case laws, notifications and internal policy requirements. 

  • Prepare concise legal notes, summaries, trackers, contract comments, issue lists and internal documentation. 

  • Maintain accurate records of contract reviews, negotiations, approvals and executed documents. 

  • Support legal knowledge management through organized documentation and repository maintenance. 

4. Stakeholder and Cross-functional Collaboration 

  • Work closely with business teams, Finance, Tax, Procurement, Supply Chain, Regulatory, Compliance, Data Privacy and other enabling functions. 

  • Coordinate inputs from relevant teams so that contracts are reviewed holistically. 

  • Support timely closure of matters through disciplined follow-up and clear communication. 

  • Build effective working relationships while maintaining legal independence and objectivity. 

6. Process, CLM and Legal Operations Support 

  • Use contract lifecycle management systems, trackers and legal workflow tools as applicable. 

  • Support process improvements in contract review, documentation, reporting, and turnaround-time tracking. 

  • Help drive consistency in contract positions through standard templates, clause libraries, and approved negotiation positions. 


Qualifications

BA. LL.B. / BBA. LL.B. / B.Com. LL.B. from a recognized university is preferred. 

Experience in pharmaceutical, healthcare, life sciences, manufacturing, chemical or allied industries will be preferred. 


Additional Information

Technical Skills 

  • Contract drafting, review and negotiation.
