Job Description

Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced Chartered Accountant to ensure accounting and financial reporting within the framework of local legislation and group accounting. This role includes managing and ensuring compliance with various tax legislations, marketing code as well as overseeing effective financial transaction processing.

Roles & Responsibilities

Managing Business Performance

  • Preparation of Brand P&L
  • Working with business to ensure timely collection of Receivables
  • Work with SCM and ensure optimum inventory levels and handling inventory claims
  • Cost analytics and saving initiatives
  • Budget Finalizations and managing the budgets throughout the year
  • To work on simplification and automation projects
  • Preparation of monthly MIS and other reports to support the business in decision making
  •  Agreements Review and assessment of financial implications
  • Preparation and review of Business Cases

Assurance, Compliance & Reporting

  • Payment of VAT and Employee taxes as per due dates and ensuring VAT Compliances & refunds
  • Income Tax Computation and filing
  • Timely payment of Advance and year-end tax
  • Management of Fixed Asset & Intangibles Register
  • Verification of all employee related claims in line with SOP’s
  • Maintenance of Balance Sheet schedules
  • Monthly sales preparation and submissions
  • Preparation of Financial Statements
  • Co-ordination with external and internal auditors
  • Ensuring compliance to processes and SOPs
  • Liaising with company secretaries ensuring that all statutory books are properly maintained and updated 
  • Creation and maintenance of Finance SOPs
  • Coordination with third party payroll processing firm for payroll preparation

Qualifications

Educational qualification: Qualified Chartered Accountants/ member of the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA)


Minimum work experience: 8 years of experience 

Skills & attributes:

  • Proficient in preparing financial statements in accordance with Local Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), IFRS, and other local regulatory compliances. 

  • Expertise in validating expenses, scrutinizing General Ledger (GL) accounts, and identifying/rectifying potential errors.

  • Ability to conceptualize and establish adequate processes and controls.
  • Good grasp of the business environment to support management in decision making.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a fast-paced, high-energy organization.
  • Good Computer literacy and ability to work in an ERP environment.
