To play an active role in ensuring proper control, compliance and accounting within corporate & statutory guidelines for Biologics Business. The incumbent should ensure periodic book closure, accuracy / completeness of trial balance, trend analysis, business reports, co-ordinate with auditors. He/she should bring in continuous improvement in control environment, review and monitoring of Opex and R&D expense, and deep dive analysis for cost savings/efficiency improvement. He/she should collaborate and enable/support cross functional teams.

Roles & Responsibilities:
The incumbent will be responsible for the following activities:

1. Review of Clinical trial expenses, budgets etc: 

Review of clinical trial related contracts including participating in negotiation, Preparation of clinical trial budget and tracking against it, Participate in implementation of clinical trial tool Perform the analysis and forecast of clinical study spending, Review & approve clinical site bills & investigator invoices according to contract terms and accounting of same, Ensure clinical trial payment process for all clinical research organization billings, Works closely with the clinical team to provide analyses that will drive specific business objectives and strategies Create / maintain tracker of payments due to sites vs. payment made for all trail sites, Ensure that services performed by clinical trial vendors are reported in the period incurred

2. Monthly/Quarterly Book closure and reporting: 

Opex and R&D expenses provision, Trial Balance review, pass necessary entries, Analysis of Expenses on MOM basis before and after the Period closure and providing reasoning for the same, MIS preparation, Preparing & Circulating Expense/various Reports to different Department Heads & rigorous review with the same Dept heads for the analysis of spent, Support Statutory / Internal Auditors, handle queries and act as SPOC to them

3. R&D expense monitoring: 

Tracking and monitoring of clinical trial expenses study wise against agreed milestones and deliverables, Detailed Analysis of over/under spent during a period, Ensuring payments to CROs as per agreed milestones and deliverables, Monthly R&D MIS with detailed analysis including Study wise report, IP report, CD-PD dashboard etc

4. Maintain & improve Control Environment: 

Maintain SOX process flow charts and RCMs, Ensure process adherence and SOX compliance, Preparation for Company level Controller Forum, Review and maintenance of SOPs

5. CAPEX: 

Preparing an annual budget outlining capital expenditure, Administer the capital expenditure of the unit, Review capex proposals, Ensure timely completion of the project and capitalization, Review budget and timelines of the respective project

6. Others: 

Deep dive/Projects on process evaluation, expense analysis, etc, Handling Intercompany Related Transactions specific to Biologics, Periodic Plant/Scrap Yard visit, Identifying issues, Action/Escalation to rectify-correct it, Creation & Maintenance of WBS & Cost Centre and periodic review of the same

Academic Background and Key Experience Requirements:

A CA with around 3-5 years of experience in month closure activities & controlling, Good accounting acumen, Familiarity with SAP environment, A good understanding of Accounting Standards, Exposure in Manufacturing sector

People Competencies:

Should be self-driven and sense of ownership for its deliverables, Excellent communication skills, Should be able to work with CFTs, Should be adaptable and flexible in his approach
